| Sos Grand Blanc Association |
SOS Grand Blanc (SOS Great White) is an association under french law of 1901 with a non-lucrative goal. It was declared to the prefecture of the Gironde on June 2, 2003 having the role of taking all actions in favour of the protection of sharks and mainly of the Great White Shark. The underwater photographer, Patrice Héraud, specializes on the sightings of sharks and is the President and founder.
It's actions are to make known the Great White Shark to the general public through conferences, exposures, participations in festivals, TV and radio. The principal goal is to buy satellite transmitters which will be offered to the Fox Shark Research Foundation and will be posed by Australian scientists.
The first satellite transmitter offered to the Fox Foundation was posed on a Great White Shark during the mission of July/August 2005. You can see all informations in the marking part of this site.
With this first marking, the members of SOS Grand Blanc who contributed to buy this satellite transmitter received the picture of the marked shark and became sponsors of a Great White Shark.
Since 2007, SOS Grand Blanc joined Shark Alliance which is a non-profitable coalition, (with more of thirty non-governmental international organizations).
This coalition is devoted to the restoration and the conservation of the population of sharks, and hopefully they will evolve the common fisheries policy of the European Union.
In more of the Great White Shark, SOS Grand Blanc take also care others species of sharks.
Four types of subscriptions :
1 - Annual cost is fixed at 15 euros
It contributes to help the organization make known the Great White Shark, and to respect and protect it. Once a year, it's possible to take part in a dinner/conference with all members, in which Patrice Heraud will be present.
2 - Annual cost is fixed at 30 euros
You will receive twice a year the letter of information of « Great White » infos. Once a year, it's possible to take part in a dinner/conference with all the members, in which Patrice Heraud will be present and receive invitations for
expositions/conferences.
3 – To participate in the programme of marking
The annual cost is fixed at 50 euros. As well as the advantages above, you may take part in the programme of marking the Australian Great White Sharks with our satellite transmitter.
The members who have taken part financially in this programme will become the sponsor of a Great White Shark and will receive a picture of their "adoptive" shark as soon as this one is marked and some regular informations.
4 – Donations of more than 60 euros
it will allow you to profit from all the advantages above, but also receive the « Discover » booklet to understand the Great White Shark.
So that the name of the Great White Shark never gets on the list already too long of disappeared species, we need you now !!!
